What’s the Difference Between RLUSD and XRP?

RLUSD and XRP are both key components of the Ripple ecosystem, but serve distinct purposes:

• RLUSD: Ripple's USD-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, is designed to provide stability and liquidity within the Ripple ecosystem. Its value is pegged to the US Dollar, making it a reliable option for users seeking minimal price fluctuations.
• XRP: XRP is the native digital currency of the Ripple network. It is optimized for fast, cost-effective cross-border transactions, playing a vital role in Ripple’s payment solutions by enabling efficient currency transfers.

How can I set up a Ripple (XRP) Wallet address?

When you sign up or login to your MoonPay account your Ripple (XRP) wallet will be automatically set up for you.
If you’re using the MoonPay app, you can find your Ripple (XRP) wallet in the Wallet tab.
As a reminder, all wallets in your MoonPay account are non-custodial.

How can I buy Ripple’s stable coin (RLUSD)?

You can buy Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD in a few simple steps:

1. Open the MoonPay app or a wallet that’s partnered with MoonPay
2. Select RLUSD and enter the amount you want to buy.
3. Enter your wallet address and click on continue.
4. Approve the RLUSD contract by signing an on-chain transaction.

Important notes:

• To purchase RLUSD via the XRPL network, you’ll need a minimum of 1 XRP in your Ripple wallet to ensure your wallet is active.
• If this is your first RLUSD purchase, the contract signing incurs a small XRP network fee. We recommend having at least 2 XRP in your wallet to cover these fees.
• RLUSD purchases are not supported in Europe, Virgin Islands, Canada or the following U.S. states: New York (NY)
• RLUSD is not available as a base swap.
• Please ensure you have the latest version of the app installed in order to trade RLUSD

What networks support RLUSD?

You can buy, hold, and send RLUSD on the following networks:

• XRPL Network: If you purchase RLUSD on the XRPL network, you’ll need at least 1 XRP in your Ripple wallet to activate it and approve the RLUSD contract.
• Ethereum Network: If you choose to buy RLUSD on the Ethereum network, there’s no need for XRP in your Ripple wallet or to approve the RLUSD contract.

Can I receive RLUSD in my MoonPay account?

Yes, you can send and receive RLUSD in your MoonPay account. If someone is sending RLUSD to your Ripple (XRP) wallet, the following requirements apply:

1. Minimum XRP Balance: Your wallet must have at least 1 XRP to receive RLUSD.
2. Approve the RLUSD Contract: Once you receive RLUSD, you’ll need to approve the RLUSD contract by signing an on-chain transaction to accept the funds.

Once these steps are completed, the RLUSD will be successfully added to your wallet.
