ACH: some frequently asked questions
ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. It’s a fast and cheap way to transfer USD within the USA. It makes sure the money reaches your bank account fast.
If you’re based in the US, you’ll most likely see ACH as a payment option when you place an order.
What is an ACH payout?
An ACH payout is an easy way to move funds from MoonPay to your bank account. Here’s how to enable the feature on your MoonPay account.
Enable ACH payout
We use Plaid to handle everything. Once you’re linked via Plaid, receiving sale proceeds into your US bank account is easy. To enable ACH payouts, follow the steps below:
- Click the Sell tab to sell your asset.
- Select the asset and amount you want to sell.
- Click Continue. You may be required to verify your identity if you haven’t done so yet.
- Select Bank ACH.
- Fill in your Social Security Number.
- Confirm your details on Plaid.
- Select the bank you want to choose.
- Confirm everything and return to MoonPay.
- Your ACH account is now linked and ready to use.
How does it work?
The payment processor collects fees from MoonPay and sends payment data to the initial bank. After that, the bank sends ACH data to the Federal Reserve, which processes and sends it to your bank.
How long does it take?
ACH payments typically take 3-5 business days. If it goes beyond 5 days, check with your bank for any issues.
Note:
ACH payments don't happen instantly, they're done in batches. These batches need to meet deadlines to be processed in designated cycles.
Alternatives
You can also opt for direct deposits to your card. VISA Fast Funds cards give payouts in 30 minutes. Standard VISA cards might take up to 48 hours for funds to be available.
