What is the travel rule?

The Travel Rule is a regulatory requirement that we share certain customer information with other crypto asset service providers. We are also required to have you confirm that you own and control your selected wallet. For transactions over EUR 1000 or USD 1000, we will ask you to verify ownership of your wallet.

Will my data be safe under the Travel Rule?

Yes, we are committed to protecting user data and complying with relevant privacy laws. The information shared is typically encrypted and transmitted through secure channels.

Why do I have to confirm that I control my non-custodial wallet?

It is a regulatory requirement for MoonPay to ask customers, transacting under EUR €1000 or USD $1000, to confirm that they own and control their wallets. This is for legal, risk, and security purposes. If you cannot confirm this, we cannot complete your transaction.

Why do I have to verify ownership of my wallet?

It is a regulatory requirement that the customer provide to MoonPay a verification of the ownership of their wallet when making a transaction over EUR 1000 or USD 1000. MoonPay offers multiple solutions to do this. If this verification is not successful, we will not be able to complete your transaction.

Why should I provide a signature to verify my wallet?

This is one of the methods MoonPay provides to verify your wallet safely and securely. All you have to do is follow the instructions to link and sign your wallet. Other acceptable methods of proving wallet ownership are also available to you.
