See which UK and European banks are more likely to allow crypto payments to MoonPay, plus expected transfer processing times.

Updated yesterday

Cryptocurrencies are getting more popular. But despite that, some banks still view it as risky. And that can mean they reject fiat bank transfers if they think it relates to crypto.

To help make things easier, we’ve put together a list of banks that we know are more likely to work with crypto companies.

Processing times for bank transfers

Expected processing times

When you transfer money in GBP using the Faster Payments System, it usually takes up to 2 working days to reach MoonPay. Transferring money in Euros within the Single Euro Payments Area typically takes 1 to 3 working days to reach MoonPay.

After receipt, additional trust and safety checks may be performed before updating your MoonPay account balance.

Note: If you start a transfer on a Friday evening, a weekend, or a public/bank holiday, it may not be processed by your bank until the next business day.

Important: We are currently unable to accept transfers from WISE and C24 Bank GMBH. Our team is currently working on making this payment method available in the future. We recommend using an alternative bank account if you wish to place an order.

Related considerations

  • Email confirmations: You will receive an email once your transfer has been processed and credited to your MoonPay balance

  • Trust and safety checks: For EUR transfers, additional time may be required for compliance checks after funds are received

  • External factors: Weekends, bank holidays, and after-hours submissions can add additional delays to processing

Troubleshooting delays in transfer processing

If your bank transfer does not appear in your MoonPay balance within the expected processing timeframe, follow these steps:

  1. Wait for the standard processing period

    • For EUR transfers, wait for up to 3 business days

    • For GBP transfers, wait for up to 2 business days

  2. Check for banking delays
Delays due to weekends, public holidays, or after-hours transactions are normal as most banks do not process such transfers during these periods. Wait until the next business day for updates.

  3. Contact MoonPay Support if the delay persists
If your transfer exceeds the expected timeframe, gather the following details from your bank’s transfer confirmation receipt:

    • Sender’s account number

    • Sender’s sort code (for GBP transfers)

    • Sender’s full name

Then, use MoonPay’s secure upload link (provided by a support team member) to share this information for further investigation.
