Overview
You can use Venmo to buy and sell cryptocurrency on MoonPay. This guide explains how to add Venmo, supported payment types, and common troubleshooting steps.
How to buy cryptocurrency with Venmo
Open the MoonPay app and log in
Select the cryptocurrency and amount you want to purchase
Enter your wallet address and tap Continue
Tap Add payment method and select Venmo
Tap Continue to Venmo to be redirected to Venmo
Complete Venmo authentication
Select your preferred payment method within Venmo
Tap Confirm to return to MoonPay
In MoonPay, tap Pay to finalize the transaction

Important:
Only one Venmo account can be linked to your MoonPay account at a time
To change it, delete the current Venmo payment method and re-add a new one
How to sell cryptocurrency with Venmo
Open the MoonPay app and tap Sell
Select the cryptocurrency, enter the amount, and tap Continue
Select Venmo as your withdrawal method
Send the cryptocurrency to the deposit wallet address provided
Once received, your sale will be processed, and funds will be sent to your Venmo account
Supported payment methods within Venmo
MoonPay supports:
Venmo balance
Debit card
Bank transfer
Note: Credit cards linked to your Venmo account are not supported.
How to pay with specific Venmo funding sources
Venmo wallet balance
To pay with your Venmo balance, you must have funds available.
How to top up in the Venmo app:
Go to the Me tab
Tap Add money
Select From a bank or debit card
Enter the amount and choose a payment method
Tap Add
Tip: For more details, see Venmo’s article on adding money to your balance.
Note: The payment method you select in Venmo will remain your default for MoonPay. To change it, delete Venmo from MoonPay and re-add it with a different method.
How to delete Venmo as a payment method
Open the MoonPay app
Tap the gear icon (top right)
Tap Payment methods
Tap the three dots (⋯) next to Venmo
Tap Delete
Troubleshooting Venmo setup
If the Venmo pop-up is blocked
Allow pop-ups in your browser settings or use a different browser.
If your account is already in use
Only one Venmo account can be linked at a time. Remove the current account before adding a new one.

Payment failure
Venmo may reject a payment for various reasons.

Note:
Credit card payments via Venmo are not supported on MoonPay
If payment fails, update your default method in Venmo or choose a different payment option in MoonPay
How to change your Venmo payment method
Delete Venmo from your MoonPay payment methods.
Create a new order, select Venmo, and choose an alternative payment method.
Refunds
Venmo refunds can take 1–30 business days, depending on the payment method used.
