AI agents with money: Claude Dispatch + MoonPay Agents

Claude Dispatch lets you assign tasks to your AI agent from your phone. Connect MoonPay Agents as an MCP server and that same agent can manage your crypto portfolio, execute trades, and automate payments — without you opening an app.

Overview

Claude Dispatch is the mobile interface for Claude Cowork, Anthropic's persistent AI workspace. It keeps a single context thread across tasks, so your agent remembers what it did Tuesday when you check in on Saturday. MoonPay Agents fills the gap Dispatch couldn't address on its own: giving agents a complete financial stack — wallets, swaps, fiat rails, DCA schedules, and machine-to-machine payments — through 54 tools delivered as an MCP server, no custom code required.

Key benefits

  • Non-custodial throughout — your private keys stay on your device; MoonPay never holds your assets

  • Full-stack coverage — fiat on-ramp, multi-chain swaps and bridges, fiat off-ramp, portfolio tracking, and recurring payments in one integration

  • Mobile-first control — assign financial tasks from your phone and receive push notifications when they complete

  • Hardware wallet support — requires Ledger confirmation before any agent-initiated transaction executes

What Claude Dispatch is

Claude Dispatch is the mobile companion to Claude Cowork. You can assign tasks from your phone, check in mid-task, and receive push notifications on completion — all without touching your desktop.

The key difference from a standard chatbot is context persistence. Dispatch maintains a single thread across tasks, so your agent retains what it did in previous sessions. If it bought ETH on Tuesday, it knows that when you ask for a portfolio update on Saturday.

The infrastructure gap MoonPay fills

Claude Dispatch agents can already write and execute code, browse the web, control desktop apps, manage files, and connect to external APIs via MCP. What they couldn't do natively is touch money.

MoonPay Agents ships as an MCP server — the same open standard Claude Cowork uses for all third-party integrations. Connect it once, and your Dispatch agent gains:

  • Wallets — create, manage, and monitor multi-chain wallets

  • Token operations — buy, sell, swap, and bridge across 10 chains

  • Fiat rails — on-ramp (fiat → crypto) and off-ramp (crypto → fiat) via virtual accounts

  • Portfolio tracking — balances, P&L, and historical performance

  • Automation — DCA schedules, price alerts, and recurring payments

  • x402 payments — machine-to-machine payments for API access, no human checkout required

That's 54 tools across 17 skills, non-custodial throughout.

What agentic finance looks like in practice

Portfolio rebalancing

You're in a meeting. You message Claude Dispatch: "Rebalance my portfolio to 60% BTC, 30% ETH, 10% SOL."

Without MoonPay connected, Claude tells you what trades to make and you execute them manually. With MoonPay connected, Claude checks your current allocations, calculates the required trades, finds the best swap routes across chains, executes the transactions, and sends you a push notification with a completed summary. You never opened an app.

Dollar-cost averaging on autopilot

You want to invest $500/month in ETH regardless of price. One message from your phone sets up a recurring schedule. MoonPay's infrastructure handles execution, and your agent sends you a monthly summary.

Automated dip buying

You have a standing instruction: "If BTC drops more than 10% in a day, buy $1,000." With a price alert skill installed, Claude monitors this condition around the clock. When it triggers, Dispatch executes the buy via MoonPay and sends you a push notification. You find out in the morning that your agent caught the dip.

x402 research agent

MoonPay's native x402 support enables machine-to-machine payments. Claude Dispatch can pay for access to x402-gated APIs — market data, on-chain analytics, research reports — autonomously, per-request, from your wallet. No subscriptions, no human checkout flows.

How MoonPay compares to alternatives

Several players connect AI agents to crypto infrastructure. The distinction that matters most is custody — whether you or the platform holds your assets.

Coinbase Payments MCP launched in early 2026 and focuses narrowly on stablecoin payments and fiat on-ramps. It works with Claude and Gemini but has no swaps, multi-chain bridges, or DeFi access.

Gemini Agentic Trading launched April 2026 and lets Claude and ChatGPT execute trades directly in a Gemini account. Assets are exchange-custodied (Gemini holds them) and the regulatory scope is US-focused.

MoonPay Agents covers the full stack — 54 tools across 17 skills, 10 chains, non-custodial, globally available, with Ledger hardware wallet support for transaction signing. Private keys never leave your device.

Security architecture

Non-custodial by design. Your private keys are stored locally, not on MoonPay's servers. The MCP server can initiate transactions but cannot move funds without a valid signature from your device.

Ledger integration. You can require hardware confirmation for every transaction Claude initiates. The agent proposes the transaction; you tap approve on your Ledger. Private keys never leave the hardware device.

Transparent tooling. Every tool available to Claude is listed explicitly in the MCP manifest. Claude can only call tools you've connected — there's no hidden capability surface.

Audit trail. All agent-initiated transactions appear in your MoonPay transaction history, tagged with the agent that executed them.

Important: Crypto transactions are irreversible. For high-value operations, connect a Ledger to require manual confirmation before execution. MoonPay also supports transaction simulation so Claude can show you what a trade will do before committing.

FAQs

Does Claude Dispatch need special permissions to initiate MoonPay transactions?

No. Once MoonPay is connected as an MCP server in Cowork, Claude Dispatch inherits those tool permissions automatically. You can revoke access at any time from Cowork's MCP Settings.

What happens if Claude makes a mistake with a transaction?

Crypto transactions are irreversible. For high-value operations, connect a Ledger to require manual confirmation before execution. MoonPay also supports transaction simulation — Claude can show you exactly what a trade will do before committing.

Is this available outside the US?

MoonPay operates in 160+ countries. Fiat on-ramp and off-ramp availability varies by jurisdiction. Crypto-to-crypto operations (swaps, bridges) are broadly available.

Can I set spending limits on my agent?

Yes. The moonpay-budget-agent skill lets you define daily or per-transaction spending caps. Claude will refuse to execute any transaction that exceeds them.
